Guam – After being closed for several months, the Agana pool officially opened today, but not to everyone. The pool is still closed to large organized groups.

Earlier this morning, on mornings with Patti, some aerobics class members called to complain that they couldn’t access the pool. Parks and Rec Director Bob Lizama says that the Agana pool is transitioning from being closed to now being opened and they need time to develop organized group schedules. They are currently fielding requests and feedbacks to develop the schedule for the Agana pool. Meanwhile, Governor Eddie Calvo toured the pool to check out the renovations. Funded by hot bonds, gaming tax revenue and a private donation, renovations totaled 273,000. Some of the work includes upgrades to the bathroom, shower and locker rooms. The pool also received interior lights, which were funded by MDA dive shop.

“We were able to realize 175,000 for the replacement and repairs of the existing, there’s two units there one was existing and one was replaced so we have two pumps that will be alternating to keep the pool in operation,” said Lizama.
