Agfayan Bridge to Close Two Hours at a Time Next Week

Tamuning, Guam – he Department of Public Works and Black Construction advise all motorists that between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. beginning Tuesday, August 5 through Friday, August 8, there will be intermittent lane closures and delays on south bound Route 15, Route 10 and Route 4 from the Black Construction casting yard in Mangilao to Inarajan.
These delays and intermittent closures are necessary to ensure the safety of motorists and construction crew as they transport four 88-foot long bridge girders, each weighing 36 tons from the Black Construction casting yard on Route 15 to the Agfayan Bridge construction site in Inarajan.

Please note that upon arrival at the construction site, Route 4 at the Agfayan bridge will be closed to traffic from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. as the girders are taken off of the transport trucks and placed on the bridge foundation. Signage will be posted to remind motorists of this road closure.

Drivers are urged to slow down, proceed with caution and seek alternative routes during the road closure. Traffic controls will be in place. Delays and increased travel time should be anticipated if traveling through this area. Emergency officials and government agencies have been informed.

The DPW regrets any inconvenience to the public as a result these temporary closures. Due to the extreme nature of the work and to ensure the safety of the construction crews it was determined that this work be performed during daylight hours.

The DPW thanks the public for their continued patience as they work to improve our roads and bridges.
