According to GPA spokesman Art Perez, the 40, 1-megawatt temporary generators have been contributing to the grid and will be fully operational by the end of the week.
Guam – One of GPA’s critical components to being able to provide much-needed maintenance and general upkeep to islands generators will be coming online sooner rather than later.
Perez says, the generators will play a key role in helping to alleviate pressure off of the islands strained base load generators. When the temporary units come online, Perez says they will immediately help GPA’s smaller, fast-track diesel generators by allowing the authority to take these units down for maintenance and help recover from the constant use since the explosion at Cabras 3 and 4. But the bigger role of the Aggreko generators comes on February 22nd, when GPA plans to take down Cabras 2 for a major overhaul. The temporary generators will be used to completely replace Cabras 2 during its overhaul period.
