Guam – Nabbed on arrival–a return of warrant has been executed on the United States Air Force non-commissioned officer accused of raping a 9-year-old girl earlier this year.

Judge Anita Sukola issued a bench warrant for Louis Anthony Vargas to ensure that he would make yesterday’s court hearing after it was discovered that he had absconded and left the island.

It was indicated in court that Vargas was not located at the Mangilao home address where he was to remain on house arrest. Instead, it was discovered that he used an official passport, which he failed to relinquish to probation officials, to travel to New Mexico.

Upon his return to Guam, United States Air Force law enforcement tracked him down at the airport and took him into custody.

Vargas is accused of raping a 9-year old girl in July. He is charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct, both with the special allegation of vulnerable victim enhancement.

In court yesterday, US Air Force JAG officers turned over Vargas to local custody. He was booked and confined.
