Around 5 p.m. Sunday, the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) received a report from 911 dispatch of a found unexploded ordnance (UXO) located at the Agat Memorial Park, on the beachside.
The Guam Fire Department was on scene and the Guam Police Department was notified. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) was also requested. The immediate area surrounding the UXO was secured and there were no road closures or evacuations.
The All-Clear was issued at 6:40 p.m. and the area resumed normal operations. All precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the public and responders involved.
GHS/OCD remind residents and visitors to practice the “3Rs of Explosive Safety” when any UXO or munition is encountered:
- Recognize – when you may have encountered a munition and that munitions are dangerous.
- Retreat – do not approach, touch, move, or disturb it, but carefully leave the area.
- Report – call 911 and advise of what you saw and where you saw it.
