GPA has said that Cabras 4 is a total loss and it is unclear whether Cabras 3 will be repaired as well.

Guam – It’s been almost a year since Cabras 4 exploded and there is still no movement on why the explosions occurred.

When asked about the progress of the Cabras 4 investigation, GPA General Manager John Benavente says GPA’s insurance adjuster is still evaluating the explosion. He says, “In GPA’s best interest, we at GPA must continue to work with our insurance adjuster green span and provide them time to conclude the investigation and proceed with settlement.” Last year, on august 31, an explosion rocked Cabras 3 and 4, depriving Guam of almost 80 megawatts of electricity. Since the explosions, Guam has experienced load shedding due to a lack of capacity. GPA has said that Cabras 4 is a total loss and it is unclear whether Cabras 3 will be repaired as well.
