Guam – American Grocery on Route 1 in Dededo was evacuated this afternoon after employees reported a foul odor inside.
Guam Fire Spokesman Lt. Ed Artero reports the building was evacuated about 1pm. He says that GFD’s Hazmat Unit entered the building to assess the situation. They conducted “air monitoring” to determine whether the air was safe. The findings were negative. No hazardous contaminants were found.
Painting was being done nearby and officials at the scene speculated that was the source of the foul odor.
GFD secured the scene about 2pm and left. However the grocery store was still closed as of 3pm.
