A “precautionary lockdown” was declared at Andersen Air Force Base Monday morning for what Staff Sgt. Zachary Bumpus said could “potentially have been a security incident.”
Bumpus said the lockdown was declared about 10:30 a.m. It was lifted shortly thereafter.
“Nobody breached security onto the base,” said Sgt. Bumpus. “It wasn’t a gate runner or anything like that,” he said. “It was a precautionary measure that was taken. It was not a security breach.”
He declined to say what prompted the lockdown, but he said an investigation is ongoing.
No further details have been released.
