This year’s clinic leaders were the Andersen Defenders Men’s Basketball Team who conducted two session’s for ages 6 to 14 years. “The Defenders did a wonderful job as clinic leaders displaying their enthusiasm and love for the sport,” said event coordinator Elsa Ulloa. She added that the kids responded to them by working hard and performing well during skill contests and mini tournament play.
At the conclusion of the clinic the Defenders were presented with certificates of appreciation by the Office of the Mayor for Tamuning-Tumon-Harmon. “Having the military personnel volunteer and participate in our community programs is always appreciated,” said Vice Mayor Louise Rivera. Defender volunteers being recognized were Wilfredo Aviles, Brian Mitchem, Christopher Michaels, Delleion D. West, Joshua Cooper, Matthew Moskal, Mikhah Hernandez and Tyrone Groce.
“Overall it was a great day for youth basketball at Tamuning Gym thanks to the Defenders volunteering their time to teach the kids,” said Ulloa.
