Guam – Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo has annaounced that Angelo P. Martinez has been appointed to the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. Angelo was nominated by Congresswoman Bordallo, and competed with nominees nationwide for admission into West Point.
Angelo is the first student from Guam to be appointed to the U.S. Military Academy’s Class of 2017.
Angelo is the son of Dean Martinez and Thelma Perez of Maite. He currently has a 4.0 grade point average, and is ranked first in his class. He will graduate from Father Duenas Memorial School on May 8, 2013. Angelo is an Executive Officer in the National Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Phoenix Company and a member of the National Honor Society, Junior Achievement team, and Cross Country team.
“Angelo’s appointment to the Military Academy at West Point is a reflection of his leadership skills, academic achievement and athletic ability,” said Congresswoman Bordallo. “I congratulate Angelo and his parents on his appointment. I am confident that he will be a successful Cadet at West Point, and that he will serve our nation with dedication and professionalism.”
