An event celebrated annually at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort goes virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 7th Annual Pink Ball is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7 pm and will be live-streamed at pinkballguam.com and on Pink Ball’s Facebook page.
The event’s theme is “Don’t Stop Believin’ Pink Rocks online”
The ball is an annual celebration of hope, compassion, and love benefitting Guam Cancer Care and Harvest House.
Charlie Hermosa, the event’s treasurer, says the event was originally planned to kick off in August. But due to issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the show was postponed and will now be held virtually.
In an interview with PNC, Leah Beth Nahalowaa, the chairwoman of the Pink Ball, explains why the event was organized during the pandemic.
“The pandemic has not only impacted the island economically but also many families, businesses … and with the rising cases of people being diagnosed with cancer… and CPS continues to refer more children in need of foster families… to Harvest House… there just needs to be consistent support from the community,” Nahalowaa said.
She added that it took three weeks to plan the entire event.
The online event will feature a virtual rock concert by Filipino-Australian rockstar Mig Ayesa and will have awesome prizes such as a roundtrip to Japan, a 2-night stay at Hyatt Regency Guam, a 1-night stay at Dusit Thani Guam resort with breakfast and more.
Raffle tickets are $10 and can be purchased on their website.
The event is presented by Project: Inspire, Royal Travel Service, and the stations of Sorensen Media Group.
