“Reach out and help children in need” is the Christmas message to the faithful from Guam Archbishop Michael Byrnes.

There are 280 children currently living in foster care homes on Guam, said the archbishop in his message, and that number has increased dramatically in recent years.

As Christians, our celebrations have a deeper meaning and come with a responsibility, said Byrnes. And he calls on island residents to consider helping foster children who need love and security through the embrace of adoption.

The Archbishop recommended the recently established Ohala’ Adoptions whose mission statement says they will strive to provide support and hope to all those touched by adoption.

And he thanked the Guam Catholic Pro-life Group for their dedication to eradicating the scourge of abortion.
