Guam – The arrest report in the murder of Guam native Nathan Paet alleges that the airman’s wife, Michelle, “admitted to planning the murder of her husband with” the man accused of killing him, Michael Rodriguez.
The motive was greed.
Police believe that the plan was to split the proceeds from 2 life insurance policies amounting to $650,000.
The police report also reveals that Michelle “and Rodriguez were romantically involved and planned to develop a relationship together after the murder of her husband.”
The 28 year old Air Force Staff Sargent was shot and killed outside his home in southwest Las Vegas last Wednesday, December 1.
Paet grew up in Yona. He joined the Air Force in 2002. He had been stationed at Nellis Air Force Base outside Las Vegas since November 2007. He was an F-15 supply section technician assigned to the 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Nellis.
Paet’s body was flown back to Guam and arrived last night [Thursday]. He will be buried with full military honors at the Veterans Cemetery in Piti.
Tuesday, Las Vegas Police arrested 3 people in connection with the murder. 31 year old Michael Rudolph Rodriguez; , 33 year old Corry A Hawkins; and 23 year old Jessica Austin.
According to the arrest report, Michelle Paet “admitted to flirting with other men at her place of employment [EIN Credit]. She specifically identified one man she flirted with as a Michael Rodriquez. Michelle also “admitted that she had been ‘texting’ Rodriquez just prior to her husband’s murder.”
When police interviewed Rodriguez, the report states that he said he had an alibi for the time of Paet’s murder, claiming “he was having sex with an ex-porn star” at the time.
Police went to interview the “ex-porn” star. The report does not reveal the woman’s name but it states that the “ex-porn” star told police:
“…there was on on-going plan to kill the victim (Nathan Paet). She identified the subjects involved in developing the plan as Michael Rodriquez, Corry hawkins and Jessica Austin. She also knew the victim’s wife (Michelle Paet) as being involved in the planning of the murder and suspected that Rodriguez was romantically involved with her. She knew the wife was going to get money from the murder of her husband. The female planned on getting 5% of the four or five thousand dollars that Rodriquez said he was planning to get for the murder of Paet.”
Then, on Tuesday of this week, the police report states that “Michelle Paet admitted to planning the murder of her husabnd with Rodriguez.”
Michelle Paet has not yet been arrested.
