Guam – The President of Asia Pacific Financial Management Group Sandra McKeever today announced the appointment of Carl Peterson as the company’s new Director of Financial Planning.
Peterson, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and current President of Money Resources, brings more than 40 years experience to the newly-created position. He will work closely with President McKeever and CEO/Chairman Michael “Mick” Pexa to expand Asia Pacific’s existing annuities and life insurance services, as well as asset management for high net worth investors.
Asia Pacific Financial Management Group was founded in 1993 by Pexa, who began by planning retirement investments for teachers at the University of Guam, Guam Community College and GovGuam Department of Education. Over the past 20 years, the company has grown into a full service broker-dealer and registered investment advisory firm. It provides investment and financial services to individuals, businesses and government organizations in Guam and Micronesia.
Asia Pacific is locally owned and nationally connected with the Raymond James financial network and other major U.S. money managers, including Oppenheimer Funds and SEI Investments. With the joining of Carl Peterson and his staff from Money Resources, Asia Pacific now has a team of nine licensed financial advisors.
The company is headquartered in Hagatna at 145 Aspinall Avenue.
“We offer brokerage services for a wide range of financial products including stocks, bonds and mutual funds. We also help people plan for college and retirement,” says Pexa.
“With Carl Peterson coming on board, we will be better able to meet the investment needs of the ever-growing number of baby-boomers who as they approach retirement are looking for low-risk, high-dividend investments such as life insurance and annuities.”
McKeever adds, “We are excited Carl Peterson is joining our team. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the job. In addition to spearheading the expansion of our life insurance services and annuities, Carl will help manage assets for high net worth clients.”
A long-time resident of Guam, Peterson is a prominent entrepreneur and active leader in the local business community. He served as Chairman of the Guam Chamber of Commerce twice and Chairman of the Chamber’s Armed Forces Committee three times. As Chairman of the Guam Telephone Authority (GTA), he oversaw the privatization of that utility. He also served 22 years on the Guam Planning/Land Use Commission.
Peterson also has been active internationally. As World President of the Junior Chamber International, he helped create the multi-million dollar Jaycees International Foundation.
As Director of Project Concern International, he helped organize delivery of health care to parts of the world where there was none. He has been a member of Rotary International for 47 years.
Peterson was selected Guam Business 1996 Executive of the Year, by a group of his peers. He is co-author of three books about business and finance.
