The Guam Public Library System (GPLS) has announced that its Barrigada branch library will no longer service the community as a circulating library effective Aug. 15.
GPLS will be converting this branch to serve as the GPLS Archival Center and the primary focus of the facility will be to develop a comprehensive collection of local and federal government documents.
The center shall also serve to maintain the collection’s historical and cultural value in all media platforms to include preservation, planning and emergency preparedness procedures.
According to GPLS, the Barrigada facility is centrally located and the closest to the Hagåtña Main Library, making it conveniently accessible to Guam’s institutions of higher learning.
Barrigada and the surrounding communities are welcome to visit the other GPLS locations in Hagatna, Agat, Dededo, Merizo, and Yona to service their library needs.
