Congressman Michael San Nicolas issued the following statement: “With the enactment of the American Rescue Plan into law, we materially shift our pandemic circumstances and our historical fiscal deficiencies, positioning Guam stronger than ever before for the future, bringing needed relief in the present, and realizing the greatest level of federal support for our island and people than we have ever seen in the past.”

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio issued the following statements:

“As difficult as the past year has been, with the signing of the American Rescue Plan, I truly believe there are better days ahead. This historic piece of legislation will transform the lives of our people—giving immediate help to our families, workers, and small businesses; re-energizing our economy; providing the necessary resources to advance our fight against COVID-19; and moving our island, and our nation, towards recovery,” said Governor Leon Guerrero. “I want to express my appreciation to the Biden-Harris Administration and Congress for their work to pass this legislation and for helping our frontliners, the unemployed, the uninsured, the students, every single person who needs help getting back on track.”

Lt. Governor Tenorio added, “I’m grateful for the leadership of President Biden and the Democratic Congress, who prioritized the needs of the working people of our country and those in most need. We will use these resources to help our people and see our island through our recovery.”
