Guam – Sports Bingo Guam General Manager Garry Yeates says the $500-thousand dollar bingo winner has claimed his prize.
On Tuesday, Yeates put out the word that the winner had yet to claim their slice of a $2.5 million dollar prize that is being split between 5 people throughout Oceania. But Yeates told PNC News that the winner finally stepped forward Thursday evening.
He said a man with the winning ticket claimed the prize at the Mangilao Payless where he bought the ticket last Friday.
Yeates did not have the man’s name. He said the winner had to report to work. Really.
Yeates said a news conference will be called Friday and the winner will be formally announced at that time.
The Guam Olympic Committee sells the Sports Bingo tickets to raise money for the island’s Olympic team.
The winner will not be taking home all of that $500-thousand. $100-thousand will go straight to Rev and Tax, leaving the Guam winner with $400-thousand dollars to take home.
This latest Sports Bingo win for Guam follows a $2 million dollar winner in April of last year, and another Guam resident who picked up $500-thousand dollars in winnings in August of 2009.
