Guam – Reports within the community have flagged a couple of odd international numbers that have called local telephone numbers in recent weeks and authorities are encouraging the community to stay vigilant. Block, do not answer and do not call back
If it starts with an +881 or +882 area code then these numbers are seemingly ‘spoofed’, which means that they are imitated or disguised to appear as a different number. Hence, the warning out of the Office of Guam Homeland Security and Office of Civil Defense and the Mariana Regional Fusion Center.
Do not answer any unexpected calls from international or unusual numbers and should you miss a call from such a number, do not call back. Lastly, block the number as soon as possible.
