BOG, Typhoons, Fire and Mystics Winners Of Golden Hoops


Guam – The Golden Hoops Classic (GHC) 2012 Spring Tournament presented by Aloha Maid and Bank of Guam ended its six weeks of tournament in a day of champions on Sunday at Tamuning Gym to a house of passionate fans. “Fans supporting their favourite teams were not disappointed on Sunday and look forward to a day of champions where they get to watch exciting games all day under one roof,” stated tournament coordinator Elsa Ulloa.

18 plus competitive division;

Bank of Guam Club defeated the Tamuning Typhoons 81-60 for their first championship tile. Top scorers were Bank of Guam Cory Lorenzo and Typhoons Bruce Aguon with 16 points each. Bank of Guam’s Lorenzo was named MVP. Typhoons Joe Blas received the division top scorer award scoring a total 219 points averaging 18.25 per game.

30 plus competitive division;

Tamuning Typhoons defended their championship title in overtime 68-67 against the Inarajan Hawks. Top scorers were Typhoons Bruce Aguon with 30 points and Hawks Romeo Sanchez with 16 points. Typhoons Aguon was awarded the MVP and division top scorer. Aguon scored a total of 226 points averaging 22.60 per game.

40 plus competitive division;

Team Fire Club defended their championship title in the win 55-40 against the Tamuning Typhoons. Team Fire’s Mike Sanchez and Danny Cepeda scored 10 points a piece while Typhoons Frank Cruz scored 11 points. Team Fire’s Sanchez was named MVP. Typhoons Leo Payumo received the division top scorer award totalling 147 points averaging 13.36 per game.

Open recreation division;

Bud Mystics secured their fourth championship title against Guam Radiology Club (GRC) 44-43 in overtime. Mystics Ramone Salas scored a game high 16 points. GRC Allan Ayson scored 13 points. Mystics Salas was named MVP. GRC Dayriel Ollet received the division top scorer award scoring a total 119 points averaging 17.0 per game.
