Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo recently joined her House colleagues and Congressional staffers in packing “USO Warrior Care Packages” for wounded service members.

The care packs include high-demand toiletries, such as shampoo, deodorant, razor, toothbrush/toothpaste and lotions. 2,500 of the kits will be delivered to recovering service members.  Congresswoman Bordallo is a member of the USO Congressional Caucus, which hosted this event.

Bordallo is quoted in a release as saying “One of the simplest ways we can show our support for our service-members is by sending them a care package … We appreciate their selfless service and sacrifices, and these letters and packages from home let them know they are always in our thoughts.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 13, 2013 – Washington, D.C. –

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo recently joined her colleagues and Congressional staffers in assembling USO Warrior Care Packs for our wounded, ill and injured servicemembers. The Congresswoman is a member of the USO Congressional Caucus, which hosted this event.

The Congresswoman and all those who participated helped assemble an essential part of the care packs, the hygiene kit, which contains high-demand toiletries, such as shampoo, deodorant, razor, toothbrush/toothpaste and lotion. These kits will be incorporated into 2,500 Warrior Care Packs that will be delivered to recovering service members. She also signed a flag made from military battle dress uniforms, which will be flown at a USO center in Afghanistan.

“One of the simplest ways we can show our support for our servicemembers is by sending them a care package, or a little piece of home,” said Congresswoman Bordallo. “I commend the USO Congressional Caucus for bringing Members of Congress and Congressional staffers together to prepare care packages for our recovering service members. We appreciate their selfless service and sacrifices, and these letters and packages from home let them know they are always in our thoughts.”
