Guam – Guam Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo issued the following statement on the 1 year anniversary of the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami that hit the northern coast of Honshu, Japan on March 11, 2011.
Congresswoman Bordallo’s statement:

“Today I join the people of Guam in remembering those who passed or were injured in the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit Japan and caused widespread destruction on its northern coast one year ago,” said Congresswoman Bordallo. “As one of our closest allies, the United States stood by the people of Japan in their time of need.  Operation Tomodachi demonstrated the close friendship between our two nations and commitment by the United States to support our ally.  I commend our servicemembers who worked with Japanese Self-Defense forces to provide relief to those caught in the devastation.  We remain committed to providing support to the people of Japan, and I extend my sincere sympathies to the families of those who were affected by this tragedy.”
