Statement on President Obama’s Address Regarding ISIL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 10, 2014 – Washington, D.C. –
Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s address to the nation on his strategy to combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
“Tonight President Obama laid out his strategy for contingency operations to combat ISIL. I appreciate that the President has worked deliberatively to develop a plan that will seek to eliminate this terrorist threat. I support the President’s strategy to build a broad international coalition, continue air strikes against ISIL, and support our partners’ ground forces in the region. As the Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, I will work with my colleagues on the Committee to secure support for the President’s strategy and ensure that our servicemembers have the resources they need to carry out their mission. While the United States stands firm in our efforts to combat these terrorists, we will continue to move forward with our long-term strategic posture in the Asia-Pacific region.”
