Following the discovery of brown widow spiders in a shipping container from California, the Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency confirms that the fumigation and re-inspection of the vessel has proven successful.
According to CQA Public Information Officer Jessi Santos-Torres, three brown widow spiders were found in a container at the Jose D. Leon Guerrero Commercial Port last Thursday.
In response, the agency’s BioSecurity Unit was activated and since the fumigation was successful, the container was released.
