Saturday Budweiser Amateur Baseball League action kicked off with the Northern A’s (8-1) taking on the Vipers (5-6) at Leo Palace Park. Jesse Miner would come out of the bullpen and Lots Idelbong would make two game saving plays at shortstop as the A’s would sneak by the Vipers 5-3.
A’s starter Julian Flores would run into trouble in the 3rd inning and give way to Jesse Miner would would shut the door on the Vipers allowing only one hit and an unearned run over 4 1/3 innings to notch the win for the A’s.
Lots Idelbong would turn in several web gems at shortstop including a diving play in the bottom of the 7th inning to kill a Vipers rally. Idelbong and Miner would share Strike Zone Player of the Game as the A’s improve their record to 8-1.
The Vipers Steve Diego was 2 for 3 for the Vipers who would commit several base running mistakes and couldn’t capitalize with runners in scoring position. The Vipers wrap up their first half Amateur schedule with a 5-6 record.
6pm Rays 7 Agat Cardinals 4

SZPOG: Billy Quenga 3-4, 2B, 3B, 2R, RBI
The Rays and Agat Cardinals both teams with 6-2 records faced off in the Saturday Amateur nightcap. The Rays would jump out on top scoring four runs in the top of the 1st inning and the Cards couldn’t make up the difference as the Rays would hold on for the 7-4 win.
Rays starter Corey Mantanona would go four quality innings allowing four earned runs and no walks to get the win. John Pangelinan would close out the Cardinals the last three innings with a fastball touching 79 mph on the radar gun.
Billy Quenga would get the Rays started in the 1st doubling to score Lance Santos and coming in to score on an error. Jared Palomo and Dom Cruz would follow with walks against Cardinals starter Josh Aguigui and come around to score on a sac fly by John Sarmiento to give the Rays a 4-0 lead.
The Rays would tack on another run in the 3rd inning and two more in the 4th inning to stretch their lead to 7-1. Billy Quenga would ignite the Rays with a towering triple to deep left center and a rbi single by Jared Palomo.
