The Guam Medical Association (GMA) announced today that it received a generous donation of $20,000 from Calvo’s SelectCare and its underwriting partner Tokio Marine Pacific Insurance. The cash donation is being used to purchase critical lifesaving equipment and supplies to assist in the fight against COVID-19 on Guam.

GMA President Dr. Thomas Shieh said, “During this trying time, it’s deeply gratifying to have great community partners like Calvo’s SelectCare and Tokio Marine Pacific Insurance. We are grateful for their support. All funds will be used for critical items associated with our community’s fight against COVID-19, particularly with our critical frontline teams who are working tirelessly to save lives and protect our community.”

Five hundred approved reusable PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) have already been purchased along with critical hand sanitizing products. With the growing numbers of positive COVID-19 cases on Guam, SelectCare will continue offering support to those working to ensure the safety of the community.

Paul A. Calvo, President and CEO of Calvo’s Insurance Underwriters, said, “The team at Calvo’s SelectCare and our underwriting partners from Tokio Marine Pacific Insurance are proud to be able to support GMA’s medical professionals. We are particularly proud of the many frontline support workers across our island. We owe them a debt of gratitude and our continued support as they work tirelessly to keep us safe. Let’s all continue to work together to make Guam healthy and safe.”
