Guam – Captain Jeannie Comlish is the new commander of U.S. Naval Hospital Guam.
She relieved Captain Jeffrey Plummer this morning at the first Change of Command held at the new facility.
The hospital’s auditorium was packed as many witnessed Captain Plummer’s last day as Commanding Officer of the hospital. In his final speech, he thanked his family, friends, and hospital staff for what he considered “the pinnacle of his Navy experience.”
As he hands over the command to Captain Comlish, he said he is confident that she will be a great commander with a portfolio of experience, passion for work, and energy to drive the hospital.
He said, “I think I stayed because I get interesting, challenging work. I get an opportunity for personal and professional growth, but even more than that I get up every day and get to come to work with the finest citizens our nation has produced. That would be you [staff].”
Captain Comlish comes to Guam after serving as Executive Officer of Naval Hospital Oak Harbor. Outgoing Captain Plummer’s next assignment will be as Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Liason Officer to the Defense Health Agency.
