Capuchin Friar, Father Daniel Cristobal, Passes Away


Guam – Father Daniel Cristobal, OFM Capuchin, who served as Pastor in Tlafofo, Chalan Pago, Sinajana, Santa Rita, Yona and Dededo passed away on August 15 at Guam memorial Hospital.

The announcement of his death was made by Father Joseph English, Vice Provincial of the Vice Province of the Star of the Sea.

Father Daniel became a Capuchin Friar in 1952 and was ordained on July 2, 1959. Father Daniel was the First Chamorro Capuchin Priest on island. He has been the Spiritual Director for many organizations, including the Secular Franciscans, Cursillo and Christian Mothers.

Father Daniel was born January 26th 1931. He was the son of the late Adriano and Carmen Untalan Cristobal. He is survived by nephews, nices and their children.


A rosary is being said nightly at St. Fidelis Friary in Agana Heights at 7:30 pm. Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming.
