Catholic, private cemeteries open on All Souls Day, but no on-site Masses

567
Covered by the closure are all Catholic cemeteries (Pigo in Anigua, Holy Cross in Togcha – Yona, and Mount Carmel in Agat) and private cemeteries (Guam Memorial Park in Leyang – Barrigada, Our Lady of Peace Memorial Gardens in Windward Hills – Yona, and Guam Windward Memorial in Windward Hills – Yona).

To protect the island community, as well as cemetery employees and their families from the
potential spread of COVID-19, and after much thought and deliberation, the Catholic and
private cemeteries on Guam have once again reached a joint consensus.

To avoid large crowds congregating at cemeteries on All Souls’ Day and potentially
spread the COVID-19 virus at an unprecedented rate, there will be no traditional on-site
cemetery masses offered.

However, all Catholic and private cemeteries will be physically open to visitors during their normal business hours on All Souls’ Day, Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

It is strongly recommended that you plan your cemetery visit.

On this All Souls’ Day 2021, residents are urged to set aside time together as a family in your homes, to light a candle, offer prayers and share your recollections of those who have
gone on before us.

This announcement covers Guam Memorial Park in Leyang – Barrigada; Our Lady of Peace Memorial Gardens in Windward Hills – Yona; Catholic Cemeteries of Guam; and Guam Windward Memorial in Windward Hills – Yona.
