Catholics Continue Protests Calling for Archbishop Apuron’s Removal

Dozens of members of the Laity Forward Movement and Concerned Catholics of Guam picketed in front of the Cathedral Basilica in Hagatna.

Guam – Some of Guam’s Catholic faithful spent another Sunday picketing outside the Cathedral Basilica yesterday morning.

Showing up in the dozens, members of the Laity Forward Movement and the Concerned Catholics of Guam held signs calling for the removal of Archbishop Anthony Apuron.

The archbishop’s administrative authority was removed by Pope Francis after allegations of sexual abuse surfaced against Apuron.

Pope Francis sent Archbishop Savio Hon Tai Fai to oversee the administration of the Archdiocese of Agana in the meantime.

Since Archbishop Hon’s appointment, two more victims have come forward, making the total number of victims to accuse Archbishop Apuron of sexual assault four.

Archbishop has denied the allegations from the first two accusers, Roy Quintanilla and Doris Concepcion. He has not responded to Walter Denton or Roland Sondia.
