On Tuesday, dozens attended the dengue informational briefing at the Liguan Elementary School.

As part of an aggressive outreach commitment, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) continues to present dengue briefings to various sectors of the community.

Last night, a briefing was conducted at B.P. Carbullido Elementary School in Barrigada and an earlier one was conducted on Liguan Elementary School.

According to the Joint Information Center, more than 800 people have already attended the informational presentations on dengue.

In addition, more than 27 organizations have attended presentations on dengue given by U.S. CDC Medical Epidemiologist, Dr. W. Thane Hancock.

Most of these presentations were arranged by Guam’s healthcare providers to update their knowledge on dengue clinical management because rapid identification and appropriate management of severe dengue can save lives.

Dr. Hancock has presented the CDC/WHO Dengue Clinical Case Management to providers at the Guam Memorial Hospital, Guam Regional Medical City, Guam DOE Nurses, Northern Region Community Health Center, Southern Region Community Health Center, Guam Medical Society, Guam Medical Association, American Medical Center, U.S. Naval Hospital – Guam, and Andersen Air Force Base 36th Medical Group.

To date, more than 800 people from various sectors of the community have heard his presentation. Other clinics can request an update on dengue clinical management by contacting DPHSS.

Next week Tuesday, October 8, another dengue information briefing will be presented at Merizo Elementary School at 6 p.m.

The community is invited to all dengue informational briefs which are open to all.
