Cepeda claims Men’s Open title in ASC Family Classic tennis tournament

Men’s Open division Winner No. 1 seed Joshua Cepeda beat No. 2 seed Victor Tuncap 6-0, 6-3.

The 2019 ASC Family Classic tennis tournament finished the men’s and women’s skilled singles events this past weekend. Over 80 matches were completed throughout the three days with one of them being the championship match in the Men’s Open division between No. 1 seed Joshua Cepeda and No. 2 seed Victor Tuncap, with Cepeda coming out victorious winning 6-0, 6-3. Khan Truong defeated Mark Burgos 7-5, 6-4 in the Men’s 4.5 division championship match and Millie Leon Guerrero defeated Leila Mercardo to claim the Women’s 3.5 division title. The other champions and runner-ups are as follows:

  • Men’s 3.0

  • Women’s 3.0 

o Champion: Nayun Kim o Runner-Up: Leila Mercardo 

  • Women’s 2.0 

o Champion: Eliza San Agustin o Runner-Up: Ruth Rahmani 

This  Saturday, November 2, is the start of the men’s and women’s combined skilled doubles events at the Sheraton Laguna Resort and the Rick Ninete Tennis Center. The other events and registration deadlines are as follows: 

  • Combined Skilled Mixed Doubles: November 8-10
