Hagatna, Guam – The Guam Chamber of Commerce is inviting Guam students to participate in the 2014 Carabaos on Vacation Essay Contest to win cash prizes ranging from $25 – $250.
The contest is open to students enrolled in elementary, middle and high schools on Guam. Students are asked to submit an essay (guidelines attached) about their favorite carabao icon among the 42 on display throughout the island. The essay should contain the name of the carabao, facts about its design and significance to the business that adopted it and information about the sponsor in the essay submission. All entries must be submitted by close of business on Friday, April 11, 2014 to the Guam Chamber of Commerce office located at Suite 101, Ada Plaza Center, 173 Aspinall Avenue, Hagåtña, Guam or the Guam Premier Outlets Information Booth.
Carabaos on Vacation is an island-wide campaign initiated in 2008 by the Guam Chamber of Commerce and the Guam Visitors Bureau in cooperation with JenArt and Guam Premier Outlets. The program celebrates our local culture by using albino fiberglass carabaos, “adopted” by various businesses, as a canvas for showcasing colorful local art and highlighting the history of the carabao by placing them on display at various business locations around the island.
