Chamorro-Japanese islander from Saipan Robert Suzuki Jr. is an extension agent by profession but is also known as TikTok influencer Chubby Robbie who picked up dancing as a hobby thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

His nickname Chubbie Robbie was inspired by Rebel Wilson who played the role of Fat Amy in the multi-award nominated film Pitch Perfect.

He attributes his jump into dancing to the lack of CHamoru music on Tik Tok.

With the community ordered to stay at home, he had nothing else to do until he finally danced a local hit song by Daniel Deleon Guerrero Busta Gumimen.

After his Tik Tok dance went viral on social media, he was overwhelmed by community support. But even prior to the viral video, he was already popular on Youtube and only had some 200 followers on Tik Tok.

But that has changed. He now has over 70,000 followers on TikTok.

In an interview with PNC, Chubby Robbie said he was not worried about others body-shaming him.

“I stopped caring about what others think about me because I can not conform myself to what other people want me to look like. I choose to live life the way I want to live my life and that’s what I continue to promote on social media. I want people to be comfortable in their own skin. Not all of us are not born with a perfect body or a model looking body,” Chubby Robbie said.

He added that all he wants and will continue to do is to put a smile on someone’s face.

Robbie says he appreciates all businesses that have plus-sized models because it shows that as a community one can be one’s self.
