Tropical Storm Warning for Guam and Rota

Tropical storm Chan-Hom Moving North Again Near Rota at 12mph.

 

 According to the Sunday 5pm update from the NWS “the center of tropical storm Chan-Hom has accelerated north-northeastward and is now just northeast of Rota after stalling and spending several hours just north of Guam.”

 

 A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Guam and Rota. Chan-Hom’s maximum sustained winds are clocked at 50mph. It is moving North at 12mph but it’s motion is expected to be somewhat erratic over the next several hours. Chan-Hom is expected to turn Northwest later tonight it was last located at 14.0 degrees North Latitude and 145.3 degrees East Longitude.

LATEST RADAR IMAGERY INDICATES THE CENTER HAS  BEEN HEADING NORTH AT ABOUT 12 MPH THE PAST COUPLE OF HOURS. THE MOTION IS STILL EXPECTED TO BE SOMEWHAT ERRATIC THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. CHAN-HOM IS EXPECTED TO TURN TOWARD THE NORTHWEST LATER  TONIGHT.  MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN AT 50 MPH. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS  EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 80 MILES FROM THE CENTER IN THE SOUTHWESTERN SEMI- CIRCLE...AND 60 MILES ELSEWHERE.
