Chevy Silverado Over Tamuning Twins; Guahan Old School Downs Yona Masters in Monday Night GMBL

Gam – Chevy Silverado continued to keep it in high gear taking the 9-5 win over the Tamuning Twins in Monday night action at the Paseo Stadium in the Guam Masters Baseball League (GMBL). Chevy led 2-0 after three innings then scored five runs in the top of the fourth to lead it 7-1 after four complete.

The Twins scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth against reliever Willie Brennan and that would be all for Tamuning as Tommy Duenas pitched the last two innings shuting down the Twins to seal the win. Chevy Starter Joe Duenas took the win giving up just one run and two hits. Denis Rivera took the loss for Tamuning.  For Chevy, Rick Miner was 2-for-4, and three RBI while Richard Masnayon went 2-for-4, a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Ben Fama was 1-for-3, two RBI, and a run scored for Tamuning.

In the nightcap, Guahan Old School defeated the Yona Masters easily 11-5. Guahan jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after just one inning that included a two-run blast over the wall in left by Keith Hattig off of Yona starter Pat Fejeran. Guahan starter Yuki Ayukawa pitched the maximum four innings giving up just one run for the win. Yona tried to fight their way back in the top of the sixth with two runs and two more in the seventh against Guahan Old School reliever Roke Munoz.  Guahan’s Pete Aguon was 3-for-4, with two runs scored. Yona’s John Farnum was 3-for-4, a double, and two runs scored.
