According to the governor’s office the statue is just being moved to the guam museum. It will be replaced with an identical statue. The statue had to be replaced because it is already starting to crack. cracks can be seen along the back legs of the statue. The thumb on one of the arms is even missing. The replacement of the chief quipuha statue is a part of the renovations to the paseo area which are being done in preparation for FESTPAC.
