Guam – Guam Police have arrested the mothers of 2 of the 4 juveniles charged in a rash of burglaries in Barrigada.
Guam Police Spokesman A.J. Balajadia says the 2 women have been charged with child abuse.
According to Officer Balajadia, their sons had already been referred to Juvenile Investigations for various incidents in the past, prior to their most recent arrest. “Because of this,” states Officer Balajadia in his release, “detectives have arrested and charged the parents” as well.
The 2 mothers have been identified as:
1. IWAE NIESIK, f/47/Barrigada for Child Abuse. Her child has been referred to Juvenile Investigations for various incidents in the past; Burglary, Curfew Violations, Burglaries to vehicles, and Conspiracy.
2. AKININA IFI, f/37/Barrigada for Child Abuse. Her child has been referred to Juvenile Investigations for various incidents in the past; Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Harassment, Confiscated Contraband, Burglary, Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, and Theft by Threatening.
Officer Balajada also states in his release that “Parents should be aware of their children’s whereabouts at all times, even in the middle of the night. Look in on your children, make sure they’re where they should be.”
Wednesday, detectives with the Juvenile Investigations Section apprehended and charged 4 male minors for a series of burglaries and car thefts in Barrigada. Officer Balajadia says that the teens were charged in connection with 7 incidents, although the Barrigada Mayor’s office says they have tracked 15 burglaries since Christmas.
Two 17 year olds, a 16 year old and a 15 year old were charged with multiple counts of Burglary, 3 counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Theft by Threatening, Conspiracy to Commit Theft, Guilt Established by Complicity, Beyond Control and Crimes Against the Community.
They were confined at the Department of Youth Affairs.
