Guam- In the spirit of the holiday season, over $20 thousand dollars worth of toys was donated to the Salvation Army this afternoon by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
Over one thousand gifts were delivered to the Salvation Army’s Community Hall in Tiyan. Chinese Chamber Vice President Benson Au-Yeung says this is the second year their organization has provided gifts for children less fortunate. After 3 months of planning, he says members were happy to give back to the community, especially during the holidays.
“Really, you know, Christmas time is a time of giving” said Au-Yeung. “We put together the toy drive and we see the kids when they come get the toys. Their eyes light up! It’s really something that drives us to continue this project every year.”
The chamber’s donation goes to the Salvation Army Santa’s Toy Shop program, which is still accepting volunteers.
