The CNMI Government signed a proclamation on Friday declaring May 22 as ‘CNMI Armed Forces Day.’

CNMI Governor Ralph DLG. Torres and Lt. Governor Arnold Palacios signed the proclamation.

The proclamation recognizes the contribution of the more than 1,000 service members and veterans in the Commonwealth.

“Noting our island heritage and history, we remember the World War II battles fought in the Marianas and the struggles our people overcame. ”

“…fighting for our freedoms came at a great cost with the ultimate sacrifice. Everyone in the Marianas now enjoy such freedoms that owe a lasting debt of gratitude to our Armed Forces.”

The CNMI Governor and Lt. Governor signed the proclamation on Thursday, May 21.
