CNMI Gov to address Fanuchånan commencement

The Honorable Ralph Torres, Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands will address over 300 student graduates this upcoming Sunday.

Guam – As the school semester comes to a close, the University of Guam announced the upcoming Fanuchånan commencement speaker.

The Honorable Ralph Torres, Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands will address over 300 student graduates this upcoming Sunday.

Ralph DLG. Torres is the Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, serving alongside Lieutenant Governor Victor B. Hocog.

Born on August 6, 1979, Governor Torres was raised on the island of Saipan until his family moved to Boise, Idaho where he attended high school.

This will be the first graduation ceremony since the semester name was officially changed from “fall” to “Fanuchånan,” which represents the rainy season.

UOG President Robert Underwood expressed his excitement for the guest speaker in a press release saying: “We are excited to welcome Governor Torres to the University. Our students will have the opportunity to hear from one of the youngest governors in the nation.”
