Guam – Governor Eloy Inos of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands visited Rear Adm. Tilghman Payne, Commander, Joint Region Marianas, May 9.
During the visit, Inos and Payne discussed initiatives that will continue to increase communication and strengthen partnerships between the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
“It’s a partnership and I’m here because we want to honor our obligation to our national defense and defense of our country,” Inos said. “I am happy that the admiral made some time for me to be here.”
Payne reiterated that continued dialogue between the DoD and local governments is critically important to rebalancing military forces in the Pacific.
“It was great to have Governor Inos stop by today to talk about the Department of Defense and the Northern Mariana Islands,” Payne said. “Our continuing dialogue is part of a cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship.”
