The CNMI has more than 1,000 service members and veterans, everyone with their own unique story.
And this month, the CNMI pays tribute to their service and sacrifice.
Today, in honor of Veterans Day, CNMI officials and members of the military led a wreath-laying ceremony at the American Memorial Park Court of Honor. The United States Air Force also flew out of Andersen Air Force Base in Guam to honor the veterans of the commonwealth.
Earlier this month, CNMI Governor Ralph Torres also held a proclamation signing declaring November as Veterans and Military Families Month and Veterans Week in the CNMI.
Torres says many of the CNMI’s veterans bear the disabilities and scars of military service and the families of those who never returned from service live with a profound sense of loss.
