CNMI: Macaranas Gets 6 Months After Guilty to “Ice” Charge

Guam – In the CNMI, Gilbert Macaranas has been sentenced to 6 months in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of distributing methamphetamine, the drug known as “ice.”

Visiting District Court Judge William Fremming Nielsen also sentenced Macaranas to three years of supervised release, after his 6 month term is over.

According to a release from U.S> Attorney Alicia Limtiaco, Macaranas had earlier entered into a Plea Agreement in which he agreed to plead guilty after being indicted, along with co-defendant Carlos Aldan, on 2 counts of of selling “ice.”

The release states that the case “was investigated by agents from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) and was successfully prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney James J. Benedetto.”
