CNMI reports another COVID-19 case; positive cases now at 69


The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) reported another confirmed COVID-19 positive case on Monday, Sept. 21, bringing CNMI’s total to 69 cases since March 28 this year.

Just like the 6 positive cases over the weekend, the new case was detected through port-of-entry screening procedures.

CHCC said the individual was immediately quarantined in a designated isolation area for close monitoring.

CHCC also reported that staff already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new confirmed cases, including passengers on the same flight,.

Out of the 69 confirmed cases, 43 cases (62%) have been identified through port of entry screening procedures; 10 (14%) cases identified as a community contact, and; 16 (23%) cases identified as a known contact.

Of the 43 confirmed cases identified through travel screening, 28 (65%) cases originated from the US Mainland; 9 (21%) from a Foreign Country, and; 7 (16%) from US Territories.
