The CNMI government has started its COVID-19 community-based testing in Tinian and Rota today.
Tinian Mayor Edwin Aldan is encouraging island residents to get tested for free at the Tinian Health Center.
In a Marianas Variety report, Aldan says the test is not mandatory, but it will help the CNMI governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation to detect and contain the coronavirus.
He says it is important to remember that testing is only a tool to help combat the virus by better containing it.
The mayor also says that getting tested does not improve one’s response to the illness, nor does it reduce the risk of contracting or transmitting the disease.
He says people who are tested and have a negative result are still vulnerable to the virus
Those who want to get tested in Tinian and Rota are required to bring their ID.
Meanwhile, the registration portal for all islands will now be using the CNMI Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force site at governor.gov.mp/covid-19/testing.
