Guam – Coast360 Federal Credit Union’s eServices Manager, Leonard Padua, was nominated to the Credit Union Executive’s Society’s (CUES) Next Top Credit Union Executive competition, which recognizes top credit union leaders from around the world age 35 and under.
Leonard was among 115 leaders from five different countries who were nominated for their exemplary performance in their respective credit unions.
“Leonard is the only credit union leader from Guam to be nominated. The fact that he made it to the top 15 further proves his capabilities as a young leader of our credit union and our island. We’re proud to have him as part of our team,” says Richard
Northey, Coast360 CEO.
The first phase of the competition required nominees to submit a two minute video showcasing their roles and key projects within their credit unions. Of the 115 nominees from Canada, Australia and the U.S., 29 submitted their entries for a chance to move on in the competition. The public was invited to vote on July 18 through 29 for their favorite credit union leader, narrowing down the competition to the top 15 for the second phase. The asset size of the credit unions from which the top 15 boast range from $34M to $12B.
“To be alongside some of the most influential leaders in the credit union industry is a truly humbling experience. I sincerely believe in the credit union difference and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to showcase how my role and my credit union are working to positively contribute to our community,” says Padua.
Leonard is now vying for a slot in the top five. On August 30, CUES will post his blog on their website detailing his current projects and experience thus far. According to a recent CUES press release, the top 15 will receive an executive coaching session from DDJ Myers, an Arizona-based CUES supplier member and strategic provider that offers customized leadership programs and executive recruitment. The overall winner of CUES Next Top Credit Union Executive will receive a total prize package valued at over $20,000.
