The comment period for two military buildup projects will close today, Oct. 9, the chair of the Legislature’s military buildup committee announced.
Speaker Tina Rose Muña Barnes strongly encourages the public to still submit comments for the two projects on Anderson Air Force base, specifically P-103 for new well fields for water, and J-755 covering the Urban Combat Training Area at Andersen South.
In order to better facilitate the public’s accessibility to these documents, Speaker Muña Barnes has created a Guam buildup database on the Guam Legislature’s website. The database can be found under the Directories tab on the 35th Guam Legislature’s website or at http://guamlegislature.com/index/the-guam-buildup/ .
Speaker Muña Barnes also created the Guam Buildup Kiosk at her office in the Guam
Congress Building, which would allow members of the community to stop by the office to view the documents, submit comments as well as ask questions from the committee staff regarding these projects.
To date, the Speaker said her office has received over 40 comments from the community, which will be transmitted today.
“I understand that in one way or another the buildup affects everyone that calls Guam home, and it is my intention that our people be provided the relevant information. While we still have some time before the deadline, I want to encourage everyone to read the proposals and submit their comments. As always, my door is always open, and I will continue to do my due diligence to facilitate this discussion which I believe will impact our Island for generations to come,” the Speaker said in a release.
