After the Mayors Council of Guam executive director made it known that he wants Yona Mayor Jesse Blas to step down from office, the head of the Commission on Decolonization has also made it clear he wants Blas removed and replaced.

Commission on Decolonization executive director Melvin Won Pat-Borja has issued a memo addressed to Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero, Speaker Tina Muna-Barnes, MCOG president Melissa Savares, and MCOG executive director Angel Sablan requesting Blas’ removal from his post as a commission member representing the Mayors Council of Guam.

Ostensibly, Won Pat-Borja said he wants Blas’ removed for failing to attend three consecutive regularly scheduled board meetings.

Blas is, of course, currently detained and facing federal extortion charges.

According to Won Pat-Borja, based on Blas’ attendance record, he is now disqualified to continue serving in his position and he is now asking the Mayors Council of Guam to enact a replacement so as to not allow Blas’ continued absence to impede the work of the commission’s board.
