In anticipation of the island reopening for tourism to select Asian countries on July 1st, the Guam Visitors Bureau and the Island Beautification Task Force are inviting residents to help beautify the island this weekend.
The Give Us a Moment Island Pride Beautification Event aims to encourage the community to be directly involved with readying the island’s reopening. Already, around 700 people have volunteered to clean up or paint roadways and parks throughout the island.
GVB Chairman Sonny Ada says that this event is a great way to welcome visitors and promote island pride.
“Part of showing our island anew is cleaning it up and this is where everyone can participate. I hope we’ve realized that without tourism, there’s a lot of pain and suffering out there. And we want to turn that around and bring back the tourists and start people to get back working and start the excitement of tourism,” Ada said.
The event will take place this Saturday, June 27, at 8 a.m. If you would like to learn more or participate, please visit guamvisitorsbureau.com or email email@example.com.
