Guam -The Thai Community on Guam is coming together to share their culture with the island this weekend as they celebrate the Loi Krathong Festival.
Wat Buddharama of Guam and the Thai Community will hold the Loi Krathong Festival in Chamorro Village on Sunday November 14th from 5pm to Midnight.
Loi Krathong is celebrated on the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month in Thailand every year (usually in mid November.)
While the festival in Chamorro Village won’t fall on the exact date as the festival in Thailand, the Thai Community is excited to celebrate this festival with Guam for the first time.
Sunday’s event will feature all of the Thai Restaurants on the island as well as Thai Cultural Performance, Thai Music, Thai Classical Dancing, the Loi Krathong Ceremony and the Miss Guam Nappamas Beauty Contest.
Wat Buddharama has been on Guam in the Latte Heights area for two years now with two Monks living on Guam. The group hopes that this event and others will help raise money to build a new temple.
